To get a useful answer first time: your nationality; where and when you enter and leave China; which port you plan to use; and whether your onward ticket is already booked. If your question is about a specific rule, tell us which page you read it on — we will check it against the current announcement.
Usually one to two working days. If you travel within 48 hours, say so in the subject line and it moves to the front. For anything urgent while you are actually at a border, call 12367 — the immigration hotline is 24 hours and has English-speaking staff — rather than waiting on an email.
Please do not send passport scans, visa photos or payment details. We never need them and email is not a safe place for them. A nationality and a date is enough.
